The Countryside Code

Just a simple reminder to all involved in the local countryside, that we should always bear mind to the countryside code.  Whether you are a land-manager or visitor, we recommend you please acquaint yourselves with what is listed in the downloadable countryside code leaflet.  We also have the below list permanently on the walks page of this site.

For visitors

  1. Leave no trace of your visit and take your litter home
  2. Keep dogs under effective control
  3. Plan ahead and be prepared
  4. Follow advice and local signs
  5. Consider the local community and other people enjoying the outdoors
  6. leave gates and property as you find them and follow paths unless wider access is available

For land managers

  1. Know your rights, responsibilities, and liabilities
  2. Make it easy for visitors to act responsibly
  3. Identify possible threats to visitors’ safety
